At last — upstairs

The guys started building temporary stairs to the second floor today.

The real stairs won’t go in until near the end, as Jeff the Builder doesn’t want them to get scratched and marred during the construction process.

When I was there, the stairs were complete only to the landing you can see, so that’s the vantage point of the rest of these photos.

Here’s the girls’ toy room, which is separated from the stairs by a half wall and will be the first thing you notice when you come up:

Substitute all those tools and supplies with Legos, dolls, and other miscellaneous plastic crappe and you’ll have an idea of what that room will eventually look like.

The view down the hallway:

The rooms on the left after the toy room will be the older daughter’s room and then the younger daughter’s room.  On the right are the craft room, the hall bathroom, the laundry/linen closet, and the master bedroom.

(Hopefully, tomorrow I’ll be able to take pictures of each room.)

On the immediate right at the top of the stairs is the Estrogen Corner (a.k.a. the Craft Room):

Oh yeah, there’s going to be a whole lot of painting and sewing in there.  The older daughter is already making plans.  Big plans.

Finally, I mentioned the girls’ secret attic last week.  It will be above their closets and will accessed via a ladder.  Here’s a close-up on it:

I think it will be 10′ x 10′ and about 5′ tall in the back.  I can only imagine what kinds of Secret Club stuff will be happening up there eventually.
